The Cabrini Monarchs will face off against the Riverview Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Cabrini is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.5 runs per game this season.
Cabrini took a loss when they played away from home last Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed last Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Shrine Catholic 8-6.
Elizabeth Gonzalez made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Elena DelCotto and Jodi Browning did most of the damage at the plate: DelCotto went 3-for-4 with four RBI and one double, while Browning went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Meanwhile, while Riverview put up plenty of runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Jefferson. The Pirates blew past the Bears 15-0. Considering the Pirates have won six games by more than eight runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Cabrini is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Riverview, their victory bumped their record up to 11-2-1.
