After flying high against the Northmont Thunderbolts last Wednesday, the Centerville Elks came back down to earth. Centerville lost to Mount Notre Dame at home by a decisive 55-41 margin on Saturday. Centerville has struggled against Mount Notre Dame recently, as their contest on Saturday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Grace Pitzer was her usual excellent self, scoring 17 points along with five rebounds and three steals for Mount Notre Dame. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Pitzer has scored all season. Laila Harrison was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with seven rebounds.
Centerville's loss dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Mount Notre Dame, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 17-3.
Centerville will be playing in front of their home fans against Fairmont at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Ohio (Fairmont is ranked 85th, while Centerville is ranked 97th). Mount Notre Dame will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Dixie Heights at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
