The Mead Mavericks will head out on the road to challenge the University Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Mead is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
Mead will bounce into Monday's contest after beating Erie, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Mavericks skirted past the Tigers 3-1. Surprisingly, this marked the Mavericks' sixth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Kaleb Walter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up seven Ks. Mead is undefeated when Walter allows three or fewer earned runs, but 7-8 otherwise.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Stryker Leick, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, University waltzed into their match on Thursday with ten straight wins... but they left with 11. They blew past the Indians 15-0. The Bulldogs' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Kaden Turk was a standout: he got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. Max Davis was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
University always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. The last time their OBP was this high was back in May of 2024.
University's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Mead, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Mead has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like University struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
