The Honey Grove Warriors will head out on the road to take on the Celeste Blue Devils at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Honey Grove will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
In what's become a running theme this season, Honey Grove gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Wolfe City 52-24 on the road. Given Honey Grove's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 398th, while Wolfe City is ranked 1334th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Celeste fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Sam Rayburn on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Rebels by a score of 52-50. Celeste has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Honey Grove is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 21-4 record this season. As for Celeste, they dropped their record down to 11-12 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Honey Grove took their victory against Celeste when the teams last played on January 2nd by a conclusive 58-38. The rematch might be a little tougher for Honey Grove since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
