On Thursday, the Logan Longhorns faced Fort Sumner/House in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Logan ended up on the wrong side of a rough 76-52 walloping at the hands of the. Logan has struggled against the recently, as their contest on Thursday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Several Longhorns players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brock Burns, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Mason Wallin, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds.
Logan's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-2. As for Fort Sumner/House, they pushed their record up to 15-3 with that victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Logan won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Coyotes at 6:30 p.m. on January 26th. Dora will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New Mexico Rankings (they are ranked 98th, while the Longhorns are ranked 21st). As for Fort Sumner/House, they will head out on the road to face off against the Bronchos at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Grady is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
