Basketball Recap: Waupaca Extends Winning Streak to Three

Waupaca had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They walked away with a 70-61 victory over the Oconto Falls Panthers. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 54-49 back in December of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Oconto Falls saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jj Pytleski went 8 of 15 to rack up 22 points. Pytleski's evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Evan Yuma, who went 5 for 10 on his way to 14 points and five boards.

Waupaca's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-9. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points over those games. As for Oconto Falls, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 11-9 record this season.

Coming up, Waupaca will be playing at home against Little Chute at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Oconto Falls, they will head out on the road to square off against Denmark at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
