The Rootstown Rovers lost against the Aquinas Knights back in February, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Rootstown fell to Aquinas 46-42. Rootstown has struggled against Aquinas recently, as their matchup on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Bronson Gilyard continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Aquinas, scoring 22 points along with four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Gilyard has scored at least 25% of Aquinas' points. Jeante Brown was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Rootstown now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Aquinas, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rootstown will be home for the holidays to greet Lake Center Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Lake Center Christian is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. Aquinas won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Academy for Urban Scholars at 7:00 p.m. on December 16th. Academy for Urban Scholars will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 753rd, while Aquinas is ranked 215th).
