The Chisholm Trail Academy Blazers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They breezed by Flint Academy at home to the tune of 88-42. Chisholm Trail Academy has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 23 points or more this season.
Leading Chisholm Trail Academy to victory were Miquel Castro and Ivan Ogaz. Castro scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and six assists, while Ogaz scored 22 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ogaz has scored all season. Max Castro was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds.
Despite the defeat, Flint Academy saw an underclassman step up: Connor Bluhm dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds. Bluhm is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Ben Carlton, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and five assists.
Even though they lost, Flint Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chisholm Trail Academy only pulled down seven offensive rebounds.
The win (which was Chisholm Trail Academy's third in a row) raised their record to 9-8. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 44 points. As for Flint Academy, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chisholm Trail Academy and Spencerville Adventist Academy will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 24th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Spencerville Adventist Academy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Chisholm Trail Academy in their respective states (Spencerville Adventist Academy is ranked 243rd in Maryland, while Chisholm Trail Academy is ranked 813th in Texas). As for Flint Academy, they will be playing at home against Methodist Children's Home at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Methodist Children's Home focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six on Wednesday.
