Firth hasn't had much luck against North Fremont recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Cougars will take on the Huskies at 4:00 p.m.
Firth is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Friday. They fell 7-2 to American Falls.
Firth saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mckenna Erickson, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple marked the first that Erickson has hit this season. Meg Leslie was another, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, North Fremont got the win against West Jefferson on Wednesday by a conclusive 18-7. Considering the Huskies have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Grace Heiner was incredible, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 4-for-5. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Brynnli Schultz, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
North Fremont lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
North Fremont pushed their record up to 13-8 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Firth, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-14.
Firth's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's contest. The Cougars have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for North Fremont, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Firth continue to outrun the ball?
Firth might still be hurting after the 18-0 loss they got from North Fremont in their previous matchup on April 1st. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
