Columbia hasn't had much luck against Skyview recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Wildcats will welcome the Hawks at 6:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Tuesday.
Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Columbia turned things around against Caldwell on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Cougars.
James Rodriguez was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Finley Stern, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Skyview, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They put the hurt on Nampa with a sharp 13-2 win on Friday. Considering the Hawks have won seven matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Jacoby Navarro looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Skyview got a massive performance out of Elijah Strong, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Mason Krahn was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Skyview always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.
Skyview has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.1 runs over those games. As for Columbia, their win bumped their record up to 7-14.
Columbia suffered a grim 7-1 defeat to Skyview in their previous matchup on April 1st. Will the Wildcats have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
