Johnsonville and Andrews are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2019, but likely not for long. The Flashes will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against the Yellowjackets at 6:30 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Johnsonville has struggled recently with six losses in a row, while Andrews will arrive with seven straight wins.
On Tuesday, Johnsonville came up short against Georgetown and fell 10-5.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Andrews). They never let Timberland get on the board and left with a 19-0 victory on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Yellowjackets, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.
Addison McCants was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Chloe Skipper and Tori Smith did most of the damage at the plate: Skipper went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple, while Smith got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave Skipper a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jenna Cook, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Andrews kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive matchups.
Johnsonville's defeat dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Andrews, their win bumped their record up to 9-1.
Johnsonville might still be hurting after the 12-6 loss they got from Andrews when the teams last played back in March. Will the Flashes have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
