It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Cardinal Gibbons can now relate to. They fell just short of the Wake Forest Cougars by a score of 8-7 on Friday. The Crusaders' defeat signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Andrew Riedel made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Damon Phillips, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

Cardinal Gibbons' loss dropped their record down to 21-7. As for Wake Forest, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-6.

Cardinal Gibbons does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Wake Forest, they will face off against Corinth Holders on Tuesday. The Pirates will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Cougars surely won't give up without a fight.
