The Heritage Christian Defenders pushed their score all the way to 59 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Kankakee Trinity Academy by a score of 61-59. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Friday (55), Heritage Christian still had to take the loss.
Heritage Christian's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ivan Smits, who scored 12 points along with 8 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Aaron Regnerus, who scored 15 points along with 8 rebounds.
Leading Kankakee Trinity Academy to victory were Luke Green and Tommy Kujawa. Green scored 14 points along with 8 assists and 5 rebounds, while Kujawa scored 19 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals. The game was Kujawa's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Joseph Adamson was another key contributor, scoring 4 points along with 5 steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Heritage Christian and nudges their season record down to 3-5. As for Kankakee Trinity Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 7-1.
Heritage Christian will head out on the road to face off against HomeSchool Resource Center at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully HomeSchool Resource Center focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Tuesday. As for Kankakee Trinity Academy, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Cornerstone Christian Academy/Calvary Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on December 8th.
