Basketball Recap: Booker T. Washington Extends Home Winning Streak to Six

On Tuesday, the Booker T. Washington Wildcats were able to grind out a solid win over the Biloxi Indians, taking the game 60-52. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Wildcats' disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 156th in Florida, while the Indians are ranked 11th in Mississippi).

Leading Booker T. Washington to victory were Adam Griffin and Pierce Bizerra. Griffin went 6 of 8 en route to 14 points and five rebounds, while Bizerra dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards. Bizerra is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Kavieon Brown, who posted four points and three steals.

Booker T. Washington was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Several Indians players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Elvenis Davis, who had five points along with seven boards and five steals. Davis is becoming a predictor of Biloxi's success: when he posts at least three steals the team is undefeated (and 1-2 when he doesn't). Alejandro Montalvo was another key player, putting up nine points.

Booker T. Washington pushed their record up to 4-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.7 points per game. As for Biloxi, they moved to 6-2 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Booker T. Washington didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 72-62 victory against Tate on the 5th. As for Biloxi, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 68-49 win against D'Iberville on the 6th.
