The Kolbe-Cathedral Cougars put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They were the clear victor by a 68-48 margin over Cheney RVT. Given Kolbe-Cathedral's advantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked fourth, while Cheney RVT is ranked 31st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Cheney RVT's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dam'nic Gittens, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. The game was Gittens' fourth in a row with at least ten points. Kanye Pitts was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Kolbe-Cathedral's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Cheney RVT, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.
Kolbe-Cathedral will be playing at home against Bunnell at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Cheney RVT, they will head out on the road to face off against Goodwin Tech at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
