The biggest upset of the week belonged to Trenton, who took down 224th ranked Melvindale, 31-7. Christian Mercure threw for 77 yards and one touchdown and ran for 100 yards in the win.
Woodhaven extended the longest winning streak in Downriver this week by beating Kennedy, 54-17. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
Roosevelt's dynamic duo of Kevin Matejko and Devan Stewart proved tough for Carlson to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Matejko threw for 130 yards and two touchdowns and Stewart had 69 yards receiving. Brandon Sowards helped Roosevelt's passing attack out by catching three balls for 41 yards.
D'ante Barrow was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 147 yards on nine carries as Truman defeated the Marauders. Damar Clements also contributed to the rushing game with 113 yards on the ground.
Roosevelt's Matejko and Stewart have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Matejko has thrown for 1112 yards this season, while Stewart, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 22 catches for 518 yards. Woodhaven's Nick Maher leads the league in rushing yards with 1101.
A big matchup in Downriver this week will be when Allen Park takes on Ron Adams' team. The Jaguars are in fourth place, while the Bears are in third place.
The Trojans moved up to 350 from 390 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. A 31-7 win over the Cardinals helped Trenton improve its standing.
