There's no place like home for the Phillipsburg Panthers, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They walked away with a 50-42 win over Hill City on Tuesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Phillipsburg also won the last time the pair played two weeks ago.
Phillipsburg had a senior duo take command as Rad Rodriguez scored 15 points along with six rebounds and two steals and Rhett Shelton scored 15 points along with three blocks. Caden Seems was another key contributor, scoring four points.
Hill City's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaden Nuss, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Nuss has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Dylan Gansel, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Phillipsburg's win bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Hill City, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-4.
Phillipsburg will challenge the Golden Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hill City, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Buffaloes at 4:00 p.m.
