The Del Norte Knights had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Bernalillo on Friday and snuck past 53-51. The win was just what Del Norte needed coming off of a 74-50 defeat in their prior matchup.
It was another big night for Julian Castillo, who went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 25 points and 2 assists. He is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Francois Satchivi was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Del Norte's victory bumped their record up to 5-14. As for Bernalillo, they now have a losing record at 9-10.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Del Norte will take on Albuquerque Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Albuquerque Academy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Del Norte in New Mexico (Albuquerque Academy is ranked 11th, while Del Norte is ranked 72nd). As for Bernalillo, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Los Alamos at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Los Alamos focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 last Thursday.
