The Rosewood Eagles kicked off their season on the road on Tuesday and hit a couple of potholes. They took a 56-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of Smithfield-Selma.
When it comes to explaining why Rosewood lost, one person who can't be blamed is Micah Cox. Despite the final result, he scored 20 points along with 6 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of David Lamm, who scored 8 points along with 13 assists.
Among those leading the charge was Elijah Bailey, who scored 18 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Smithfield-Selma's points. Cameron Adams was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Rosewood's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Smithfield-Selma, their win bumped their record up to 1-2.
Rosewood won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Southside at 7:30 p.m. on November 29th. As for Smithfield-Selma, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against North Johnston at 7:30 p.m. North Johnston is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.
