After flying high against the Phillips Bears on Tuesday, the Phil Campbell Bobcats came back down to earth. Phil Campbell was just a bucket shy of victory on Thursday and fell 49-48 to Hatton. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Phil Campbell in their matchups with Hatton: they've now lost three in a row.
Hatton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Eva Armstead led the charge by dropping a double-double on 16 points and 10 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Armstead has scored at least 25% of Hatton's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alaska Jones, who scored 13 points along with 7 rebounds.
Phil Campbell now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Hatton, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
Phil Campbell will head out on the road to face off against Hackleburg at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Hatton, they will be playing at home against Lawrence County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
