Basketball Recap: Anika Jones Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat West Seattle

Gig Harbor won the last time they faced West Seattle and things went their way on Monday too. The Gig Harbor Tides took down West Seattle 52-38.

Gig Harbor's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Anika Jones, who went 7 of 12 en route to 15 points and eight rebounds. The dominant performance gave Jones a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Willow Bonnici, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 boards.

Gig Harbor smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in five consecutive contests.

Gig Harbor's win bumped their record up to 9-7. As for West Seattle, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 6-6.

Gig Harbor wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 43-38 loss against Lincoln on the 21st. West Seattle has also already played their next matchup (against Eastside Catholic), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
