Basketball Recap: Lewistown Sets Scoring Season-High Against Riverton

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lewistown). They simply couldn't be stopped on Saturday as they easily beat the Riverton Hawks 74-16. With the Indians ahead 39-8 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Lewistown was led to victory by Joley McLaughlin and Abby Wiegand. McLaughlin almost dropped a double-double with 22 points and nine boards, while Wiegand went 6 of 10 to rack up 18 points along with eight assists and eight rebounds. That's the most assists Wiegand has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Carsyn Braun, who went 5 for 11 en route to 13 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Lewistown was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Lewistown's victory bumped their record up to 11-17. As for Riverton, they are on a 15-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-25.

Lewistown wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 45-30 win against Farmington on the 10th. As for Riverton, they have also already played their next contest, a 64-10 defeat against Pleasant Plains on the 10th.
