On Jones' side, Anna Black made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned run off one hit. Black was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with a home run, five RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Isabella Diaz was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, a triple, and two RBI. Esmeralda Avila was another key contributor, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Simeon's loss dropped their record down to 2-4-1. As for Jones, their win bumped their record up to 6-8.
Simeon will head out on the road to challenge Perspectives Leadership/IIT/Joslin/Tech at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Jones, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Lane Tech at 4:30 p.m. One thing working in Lane Tech's favor is that they have posted big run totals in their last three matches.
