Baseball Recap: Dora Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Dora entered their tilt with Floyd on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Broncos by a score of 14-11. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 17-12 on Friday.

Rylan Harris was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over six innings while giving up five earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. Dora is 3-1 when Harris posts two or more runs, but 1-8 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ashton Davis, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Dora's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is undefeated (and 1-9 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Timmy Neal, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Dora always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in three consecutive games.

Dora pushed their record up to 4-9 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Floyd, they are on a 20-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Coincidentally, Dora and Floyd will both be playing Gateway Christian the next time they take the field. The Coyotes will host the Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, while the Broncos will head out to face them at 2:00 p.m. on Friday.
