The Fort Ann Cardinals will head out on the road to face off against the Hadley Luzerne Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Fort Ann is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
Fort Ann scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Varsity Opponent 60-57. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Fort Ann relied on the efforts of Kadynce Cutter, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 19 rebounds, and Javier Hernandez, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hernandez has scored all season. Garrett Brown was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six assists and three steals.
Meanwhile, Hadley Luzerne's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fifth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 74-47 loss at the hands of Duanesburg. While losing is never fun, Hadley Luzerne can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 712th, while Duanesburg is ranked 178th).
Fort Ann's win ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-13. As for Hadley Luzerne, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-15 record this season.
Things could have been worse for Fort Ann, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 49-32 loss to Hadley Luzerne in their previous matchup back in January. Can Fort Ann avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
