Hoover waltzed into their contest on Monday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They put the hurt on the Monroe Vikings with a sharp 17-5 win. Considering the Tornados have won six matches by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Evelyn Ortiz made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits (and not a single walk). What's more, she gave up only zero walks, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, Arijana Matijasevic was a standout: she scored three runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in runs.
