Dobie is a perfect 10-0 against Sam Rayburn since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Dobie Longhorns will welcome the Sam Rayburn Texans at 4:00 p.m. Dobie is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
Dobie is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on South Houston with a sharp 23-1 victory on Saturday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Longhorns with their most commanding win of the season.
Jackie Peralta was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). What's more, she gave up only one walk, the fewest she's had over her last three matches. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February.
In other batting news, Dobie got a massive performance out of Viviana Fernandez, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-3. What's more, Fernandez posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Alexis Martinez, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Dobie always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .812. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Sam Rayburn was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against Dawson, falling 19-1.
Sam Rayburn saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aleah Garza, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases. Those stolen bases marked the first that Garza snagged this season.
Dobie now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Sam Rayburn, their loss dropped their record down to 3-11.
Sam Rayburn's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Dobie has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .445. It's a different story for Sam Rayburn, though, as they've only averaged .331. Will they be able to contain Dobie's hitters?
Dobie took their win against Sam Rayburn in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 8-0. Does Dobie have another victory up their sleeve, or will Sam Rayburn turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
