Baseball Recap: Medford Tech Snaps Three-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Medford Tech dropped their record down to 7-8 on Monday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They fell 10-5 to the Palmyra Panthers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Jaguars of the 10-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Jacob Inman was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

As for Palmyra, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-8. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games.

On Palmyra's side, Anthony Morgenstern made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). Those six strikeouts gave Morgenstern a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. He has become a key player for Palmyra: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-8 otherwise.

In other batting news, Justin Dellisanti was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Palmyra is 3-1 when Dellisanti posts two or more stolen bases, but 5-7 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Dean Maute, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Medford Tech will challenge Westampton Tech at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Jaguars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season. As for Palmyra, they will square off against Pennsauken at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
