Valley City had trouble last Friday, and unfortunately for them, their opponent this week is a big step up in difficulty. On Friday, they take on St. Mary's Central at Bismarck Community Bowl at 7:00 PM. The MaxPreps rankings say the odds are against Valley City, but that can only make success all the sweeter.
Valley City couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a 15-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of Turtle Mountain.
St. Mary's Central had to travel to play their first game of the season, and the final result was worth the trip. They were fully in charge last week, breezing past Grafton/St. Thomas/Drayton 41-0.
St. Mary's Central's win lifted them to 1-0 while Valley City's loss dropped them down to 0-1. We'll find out if St. Mary's Central can add another positive mark to their record or if Valley City can shake off the loss and take the spring out of St. Mary's Central's step.
