Even though the Valley Vikings scored an imposing 64 points on Thursday, the Clark Chargers still came out on top. Clark narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Valley 67-64. For Clark, this counts as revenge for the 60-43 defeat Valley walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2022.
Valley's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cameron Williams, who scored 19 points along with five steals. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Elijah Flowers, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Clark's victory bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.
Clark will be playing in front of their home fans against Somerset Academy Losee at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Somerset Academy Losee is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 65.2 points per game. As for Valley, they will head out on the road to face off against Faith Lutheran at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Faith Lutheran knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matches -- so hopefully Valley likes a good challenge.
