On Saturday, Avalon lost to Leon at home by a decisive 37-21 margin. It was the first time this season that Avalon let down their fans at home.
Despite the defeat, Avalon had strong showings from Haley Zaidle, who scored 12 points, and Brooklyn De La Garza, who scored 8 points. De La Garza scored a full 38.1% of Avalon's points, the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Avalon's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 5-2. As for Leon, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Avalon will square off against Coolidge at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Coolidge comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 22 points in their last four games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. Leon's road trip will continue as they head out to face Cayuga at 6:30 p.m. on December 5th. Cayuga will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 743rd, while Leon is ranked 339th).
