Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Opp Bobcats, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were dealt a 79-45 defeat at the hands of the Bulldogs on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Opp can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 413th, while Pike County is ranked 199th).
Defeat or not, Opp got some senior leadership from Dorian Harris and Reed Adams. Harris scored 14 points along with five rebounds, while Adams. scored seven points along with six rebounds and two blocks. Josh Smith was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Opp's loss dropped their record down to 3-24. As for Pike County, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-6.
Opp will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Cottage Hill Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on February 10th. Hopefully Opp focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Thursday. Pike County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
