Basketball Recap: Ben Mckinney and Nicholas Sobek Secure Win for Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory

Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory won the last time they faced Indianapolis Bishop Chatard and things went their way on Friday too. The Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory Braves walked away with a 62-55 win over the Indianapolis Bishop Chatard Trojans. Given the Braves' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 71st, while the Trojans are ranked 328th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory was led to victory by Nicholas Sobek and Ben Mckinney. Sobek almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine boards, while Mckinney dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. Those 11 points gave Mckinney a new career-high. Manny Smith also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.

Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Despite the loss, Indianapolis Bishop Chatard saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ari Sahm posted eight points.

Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Indianapolis Bishop Chatard, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-12 record this season.

Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory will head out on the road to challenge Indianapolis Lutheran at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory is facing Indianapolis Lutheran at the right time seeing as Indianapolis Lutheran is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Indianapolis Bishop Chatard, they will take on University at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. University will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Indianapolis Bishop Chatard surely won't give up without a fight.
