The Marquez Gladiators typically have all the answers at home, but on Saturday the Bellflower Buccaneers proved too difficult a challenge. They slipped by the Gladiators 58-57. The win made it back-to-back wins for Bellflower.
Despite the loss, Marquez still got an impressive performance from Lamont White Jr, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and five assists. White Jr hasn't dropped below two steals for eight straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Elyjah Staples, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
Bellflower pushed their record up to 14-10 with that victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.0 points per game. As for Marquez, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-6.
Bellflower will take on Norwalk at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Norwalk is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Marquez, they will head out on the road to square off against Torres at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Torres will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1385th, while Marquez is ranked 382nd).
