Gautier is 6-1 against the Bulldogs since November of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Gautier Gators will be playing at home against the Vancleave Bulldogs at 8:30 p.m.
Last Tuesday, Gautier was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 41-35 to the Tomcats. While losing is never fun, Gautier can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 223rd, while the Tomcats are ranked 102nd).
Meanwhile, Vancleave had to endure a nine-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against East Central by a score of 63-52 on Tuesday. Vancleave's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Gautier has not been sharp recently as the team's lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-15 record this season. As for Vancleave, their win ended a 15-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-20.
Gautier was able to grind out a solid victory over the Bulldogs in their previous meeting last Tuesday, winning 41-31. Does Gautier have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
