The American Canyon Wolves will head out to face off against the Wood Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
In Thursday's Canine Competition, American Canyon prevailed. They walked away with a 7-2 victory over Vacaville on Thursday.
Kate Sosa made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off nine hits (and not a single walk). Sosa was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Deja Montgomery was excellent, scoring a run while going 4-for-5. Ianna Labao was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wood). They put the hurt on Napa with a sharp 17-0 win on Tuesday. Winning may never get old, but the Wildcats sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
Like American Canyon, Wood also got a great game from a two-way player: Madisyn Farnham. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Farnham has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in hits.
In other batting news, Abigail Sova was a standout: she scored four runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. That stolen base marked the first that she snagged this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubrey Redline, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-2.
Wood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .525. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Napa only posted an OBP of .286.
Wood's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for American Canyon, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
