The Montpelier Locomotives will head out on the road to face off against the Hopewell-Loudon Chieftains at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Montpelier will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 521st, while Hopewell-Loudon is ranked 174th).
Last Friday, Montpelier got themselves on the board against Hilltop, but Hilltop never followed suit. They breezed by the Cadets at home to the tune of 56-0. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Montpelier's seven-point performance the game before.
Hayden Sharps was the offensive standout of the game as he rushed for 41 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 168 yards and a touchdown. Kam Smith made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Meanwhile, Hopewell-Loudon put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 19-7 win over Calvert.
Hopewell-Loudon's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Blake Berrier, who picked up 160 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Montpelier's victory bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Hopewell-Loudon, their win was their tenth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 10-0.
