It was a good run, but the Martinsville Pirates unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of Laneville by a score of 52-49. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Martinsville of the 47-46 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture on January 5th.
Laneville got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jamorian Williams out in front who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds. Williams hasn't dropped below 13 rebounds for nine straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of De'Marea Lewis, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Martinsville's defeat ended an 11-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-8. As for Laneville, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-12 record this season.
Martinsville will head out on the road to take on the Pirates at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Wells will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. Laneville will take on the Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
