The Mt. Gilead Indians will head out on the road to challenge the Northmor Golden Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Mt. Gilead has struggled recently with six defeats in a row, while Northmor will arrive with three straight wins.
Last Saturday, Mt. Gilead came up short against Danville and fell 58-47.
Even though Northmor has not done well against Centerburg recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Northmor came out on top against Centerburg by a score of 63-52.
Northmor got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Drew Hammond out in front who scored 15 points along with five steals. Another player making a difference was Grant Bentley, who scored 21 points.
Mt. Gilead has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. As for Northmor, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.
Mt. Gilead took a serious blow against Northmor when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 73-43. Can Mt. Gilead avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
