The St. Teresa's Catholic Crusaders were the 46-35 winner over the First Academy Lions when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. St. Teresa's Catholic took a 55-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of First Academy.
Despite the loss, St. Teresa's Catholic saw an underclassman step up: Sermario MJ Wiggins scored 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dyland Rangel, who scored eight points.
Leading First Academy to victory were Logan James and Rylan Peacock. James dropped a double-double on 18 points and 15 rebounds, while Peacock scored 15 points along with five rebounds and four steals. That's the first time this season that Peacock scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Warren Williams, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
St. Teresa's Catholic bumped their record down to 2-5 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for First Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 1-6.
St. Teresa's Catholic will be playing in front of their home fans against Colquitt Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Georgia (Colquitt Christian Academy is ranked 571st, while St. Teresa's Catholic is ranked 561st). First Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Community Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 19th.
