Baseball Game Preview: McClave Cardinals vs. Manzanola Bobcats

McClave is a perfect 4-0 against Manzanola since March of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. A feisty cat fight will be fought as McClave Cardinals challenge Manzanola Bobcats at 4:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (McClave has three straight victories, Manzanola has 20 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

McClave barely beat Wiley the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. McClave put the hurt on Wiley with a sharp 19-4 win on Tuesday.

Ryan Steinbrunn was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Steinbrunn was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, McClave let Drew Howe and Elijah Solis run wild. Howe scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Solis went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI Solis has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Cope Meston, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

McClave always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .714. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .538 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Manzanola fell victim to Eads and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 18-0 to the Eagles.

McClave's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Manzanola, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Everything went McClave's way against Manzanola in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as McClave made off with a 28-0 win. Will McClave repeat their success, or does Manzanola has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
