Roosevelt is a perfect 9-0 against Edsel Ford since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Bears will be playing at home against the Thunderbirds at 4:30 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
On Thursday, Roosevelt made easy work of Lincoln Park and carried off a 16-1 win. The Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 games by six runs or more this season.
Grace Papler was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Roosevelt got a massive performance out of Shaylan Gourlay, who went 2-for-3 with two triples, two stolen bases, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases Gourlay has posted since back in April. Peyton Sabo was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles.
Roosevelt hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Edsel Ford can bid farewell to their eight-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. Everything went their way against Annapolis as they made off with a 17-7 victory. The Thunderbirds' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Roosevelt pushed their record up to 15-7 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Edsel Ford, their win bumped their record up to 2-12.
Roosevelt took their victory against Edsel Ford in their previous meeting back in April by a conclusive 16-1 score. Will the Bears repeat their success, or do the Thunderbirds have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
