The Wasatch Wasps won the last time they faced the Cedar Valley Aviators, and things went their way on Friday too. Wasatch enjoyed a cozy 51-36 victory over Cedar Valley. Winning is a bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 23 to ten on the offensive boards, as Wasatch did.
Ashley Garner continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 20 rebounds. She hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Behnke, who scored 17 points.
When it comes to explaining why Cedar Valley lost, one person who can't be blamed is Olivia Kaaihue. Despite the final result, she scored 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Hadley Whiting was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Wasatch's win bumped their record up to 11-3. As for Cedar Valley, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-5 record this season.
Wasatch will head out on the road to square off against Salem Hills at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Salem Hills focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Friday. As for Cedar Valley, they will be playing at home against Spanish Fork at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Spanish Fork is ranked 57th, while Cedar Valley is ranked 39th).
