Lafayette Central Catholic is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They put the hurt on Fountain Central with a sharp 8-2 win. The Knights not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 14th (when they won 32-7).
Kendyl McCammon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, Aubrey Bapst was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Lauren Johnson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Lafayette Central Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Riverton Parke got the win against Covington on Thursday by a conclusive 12-1. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 20 contests by ten runs or more this season.
Riverton Parke also got a great performance from Madison Coonce as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Coonce has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Riverton Parke let Maddy Lumaye and Haylee Mathas run wild. Lumaye went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Mathas went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacee Stonebraker, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double.
Riverton Parke is on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 19 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Lafayette Central Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 3-18.
Lafayette Central Catholic might still be hurting after the 13-3 loss they got from Riverton Parke when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
