The Legacy Charter Eagles proved they can win big last Thursday (they won by 39) but on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 59-57 win over Faith Christian. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Legacy Charter's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emanuel Longchamp, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds. That's the first time this season that Longchamp scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Jayden Richmond, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Faith Christian's loss came despite strong showings from Ben Cox and Santino Avalos. Cox scored 18 points along with two blocks, while Avalos scored 14 points along with two steals. That's the first time this season that Cox posted two or more blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Salot Roundtree, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
Legacy Charter now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Faith Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 11-9.
Legacy Charter will look to defend their home court on Thursday against East Ridge at 7:00 p.m. East Ridge comes in still looking for their first win of the season. Faith Christian on the road again on Friday and play against Trinity Prep at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th. Trinity Prep has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
