The Conrad Chargers will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Seagoville Dragons at 8:00 p.m. Hopefully Conrad focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Friday.
Conrad's recent rough patch got a bit rougher after their third straight defeat. They lost to West Mesquite on the road by a decisive 58-40 margin. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Conrad in their matchups with the Wranglers: they've now lost five in a row.
Despite the defeat, Conrad saw an underclassman step up: Quentin Kirkland scored ten points. Isaac Lwate was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Seagoville beat the Pirates 53-47 on Friday. The win made it back-to-back wins for Seagoville.
Seagoville had a senior duo take command as Isaiah Gonzalez scored ten points along with two steals and Gregory Fossett scored 11 points along with six rebounds and three blocks. It was the first time this season that Fossett posted two or more blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Maxfield, who scored ten points.
Conrad has not been sharp recently as the team's lost eight of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-16 record this season. As for Seagoville, their victory bumped their record up to 20-9.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Conrad hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 56.1 points per game. However, it's not like Seagoville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 60.4 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Conrad might still be hurting after the 61-38 loss they got from the Dragons when the teams last played back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Seagoville's Travion Hall, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds. Now that Conrad knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
