Softball Recap: Stringer Picks Up Ninth Consecutive Win

Stringer had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it nine on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Enterprise Yellowjackets a 13-0 shutout. Give the Red Devils' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Madilyn Graham made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double.

In other batting news, Jaycee Holifield was incredible, firing off two home runs, nine RBI, and three runs while going 4-for-4. Those nine RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jaicee Brady, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Stringer kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive matches.

Stringer pushed their record up to 16-3-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Enterprise, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Stringer will square off against Bay Springs at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Enterprise, they will challenge Loyd Star at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Hornets' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Yellowjackets' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
