The Harker Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They fell just short of Santa Clara by a score of 54-51.
Harker's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rahul Yalla, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Yalla set a new season high mark in blocks with two. Kevin Zhang was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with eight rebounds.
Even though they lost, Harker were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Harker's defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 4-6. As for Santa Clara, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-2.
Harker will head out on the road to face off against Hill at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Hill's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last eight contests. Santa Clara will be home for the holidays to greet King's Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. King's Academy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Santa Clara in California (King's Academy is ranked 144th, while Santa Clara is ranked 524th).
