If the Hodgeman County Longhorns were feeling good off their 79-22 takedown of the Ness City Eagles on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Hodgeman County was beaten by Meade 76-46 on Friday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Hodgeman County has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Hodgeman County still got an impressive performance from Owen Reece, who scored 24 points along with eight rebounds. The game was Reece's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Hazen Rydquist was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with six assists.
Even though they lost, Hodgeman County were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Hodgeman County's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 4-2. As for Meade, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-1.
Hodgeman County will be home for the holidays to greet Spearville at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Spearville and Hodgeman County are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. Meade will take on Kiowa County in a holiday battle at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday at. Kiowa County is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
