Having just played yesterday, the E.E. Smith Golden Bulls will get right back to it and host the Terry Sanford Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th. E.E. Smith has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 385 points over their last six contests.
Even though Harrells Christian Academy scored an imposing 60 points on Monday, E.E. Smith still came out on top. E.E. Smith snuck past Harrells Christian Academy with a 66-60 victory. The win was all the more spectacular given E.E. Smith's disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 365th, while Harrells Christian Academy is ranked 156th).
E.E. Smith's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Decarlo Brunson, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Asany Richmond, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Terry Sanford suffered their biggest loss since November 18, 2023 on Saturday. They took a serious blow against Northwood Temple Academy, falling 98-69. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite their defeat, Terry Sanford saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Johnathan Higgins-Simmons, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Walker, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds.
E.E. Smith's victory bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Terry Sanford, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-11.
E.E. Smith beat Terry Sanford 45-32 when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Will E.E. Smith repeat their success, or does Terry Sanford have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
